Recipe: Healthy Avocado and Greens Mint Smoothie

Is it just us, or does a thick and creamy mint smoothie sound like the perfect healthy treat? Without added sugar or unhealthy fats, this better-for-you mint smoothie features nutrient-dense ingredients such as spinach and avocado.

Smoothies are an easy way to increase your nutrient intake and meet your calorie target, and they can be enjoyed on-the-go. This recipe is loaded with iron, calcium, B vitamins, fiber, and heart-healthy unsaturated fats.

Healthy avocado and greens mint smoothie

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 cup almond milk (or other milk choice)
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • Optional: mint leaves for garnish

Directions

  1. Add the banana, avocado, coconut water, almond milk, spinach, protein powder, chia seeds and peppermint extract to a blender, and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour smoothie into a glass and add a mint leaf for garnish, if desired.
