How Small Steps Add Up to a Big Health Journey Win

Brett Wolff is a competitive tennis player who uses a wheelchair. He plays tennis throughout the year and competes in cities all over the U.S. Brett joined Anytime Fitness in Waupun, WI, in June of 2020, with the goal of improving his tennis game. He wanted to focus on improving his strength, so he could hit the ball faster, and his conditioning, for better endurance during matches. He started working out in group training, pushing sleds, using battle ropes, doing pull-ups and more.

It’s amazing how one small decision to lead a healthier lifestyle can lead to an incredible fitness journey. That’s what happened for Alex McIntyre, a member of Anytime Fitness in Loves Park, IL.

Alex realized that he needed to make some changes in his lifestyle when a simple walk became too much for him. Over the previous year, he had also started taking a few different medications, due to his health, and doctors had told him that he might need more if he didn’t start making changes in his day-to-day life.

That was a wake-up call for Alex! With the help and encouragement of friends, he started walking up a storm, as he puts it. He also changed his diet and started eating better. After three months of this, he knew he had to take his journey to the next level, so he took the leap and joined Loves Park Anytime Fitness. While he was nervous and intimidated at first, Alex was welcomed with open arms, as is the AF way!

When he first joined, he hadn’t planned on working with a coach, but soon decided that it could be the extra push he needed. And it was! He’s been working with his coach, Liz, for six months now, and he’s not only found a friend and mentor, but has learned so much about his body and himself. Alex also noted how many new friends he’s made in the gym’s positive and friendly environment.

Since joining Anytime Fitness, Alex has now lost a total of 60 pounds, is no longer pre-diabetic, and has nixed almost all his medications. It’s amazing to see the progress he’s made in just six short months!

“I believe this journey is finally working for me because I made it about my health, rather than how good I’ll look in a swimsuit this summer,” Alex said. “I have made a healthier me, and I can finally feel good in my own skin. It has truly been a blessing.”

We love seeing our members make changes in their lifestyles that help them lead healthier and happier lives. Way to go, Alex, and keep up the hard work!
