Barrios
Trainer
A graduate of the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Joyce has been with Anytime Fitness since 2018. As a Senior Fitness Specialist, she helps older adults gain body strength, decrease muscle deterioration, and reduce issues related to inactivity while enhancing their well-being. As a certified specialist, Joyce designs safe and effective exercise programs that are tailored to the individual’s specific needs keeping in mind the physical, psychological, and physiological changes that come with aging. As a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Joyce helps prevent injuries by assessing and correcting movement imbalances and compensations. Joyce designs exercise programs that focus on proper body alignment and balance which promote more efficient movement while reducing stress on joints. Proper form, flexibility, and a better range of motion are just some of the benefits that can be achieved by working with a Corrective Exercise Specialist.
Ian
Cunningham
Trainer
A lifelong passion for health and fitness through exercise brought Ian first into the field of long distance running. He has over 25 years of study and a diligent application of "Pace to Qualify" and peak performance marathon endurance training. His goal is to find a balance of strength/wellness, cardio, and proper mechanics to assist in long term injury prevention and help clients envision the reality of healthy longevity. This informal education lead to a formal education to become a Personal Trainer. Applying "Active/Activation", he includes variations of the healing arts into his training style. Ian positively motivates and inspires clients toward needed lifestyle adjustments and changes to improve health and, in turn, their overall day to day lives. A 2017 NASM graduate, Ian is continually seeking knowledge and is presently furthering his education with a focus on Corrective Exercise, and Medical Fitness. A certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Liz has personally experienced the health benefits of losing 100+ pounds. She enjoys helping clients with time efficient training that focuses on accountability, motivation and encouragement. Liz has moved to New Hampshire, but is in CT regularly to check in with clients and team members. She also provides training via phone or video conferencing. Trainer
Fitness and helping people are TJ’s passions. He joined Anytime Fitness as a manager and became certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a personal trainer. A resident of Oakdale, who grew up in East Lyme, TJ graduated from Eastern CT State University with a degree in business administration and a minor in physical education. He enjoys watching and participating in sports, football especially, and is a welcome addition to the team! TJ became a certified personal trainer in 2021, and is always looking to gain more knowledge when it comes to fitness of all kinds. Trainer
Austin is a Certified Personal Trainer and Strength Coach through the National Council of Strength and Fitness and is currently enrolled in Quinnipiac University’s HSS-PT program to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. His love for fitness and strength training began during his years as a U.S Navy Hospital Corpsman. During his 10 years of service, Austin worked with hundreds of Marines, sailors and civilians from various backgrounds and fitness levels. His time in the medical field shaped his desire to help those with physical limitations and prevent such limitations in others. Austin believes that strength and mobility are key to longevity and happiness and that in order to live a comfortable life free of injury and pain, your body must be strong enough to meet the demands of life as well as to maintain natural movement patterns - no matter what age or gender. Wendy is a certified Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach through IAP Career College. Her coaching strategy focuses on practical guidance and a personalized approach to help position her clients for long term, sustainable results. Since childhood, Wendy's weight and health choices have been a roller coaster of struggles and successes. In early 2021 she self-directed a very personal and successful approach to achieving physical and mental well-being. As part of her lifelong journey Wendy decided to travel a new path by earning certifications as both a Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach through IAP. Finding joy in helping others by sharing what she has learned through her extensive personal experience, formal studies, and continuing growth, Wendy strongly embraces the "life is a journey, not a destination" mentality and would be honored to partner with you on your wellness journey. Rachel
Ryel

Originally from Florida, Rachel received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Florida Gulf Coast University before moving to Connecticut to pursue a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. A personal trainer since 2021, she also has experience as an exercise physiologist in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation units. Having worked with individuals of all ages and fitness levels to achieve their goals, Rachel enjoys helping members with a variety of interests and needs, such as strength training, athlete specific programming, weight loss and lifestyle adaptations, as well as cardiopulmonary fitness training. In her free time, Rachel reads fiction books, plays softball recreationally, and stays active with her dogs. Since moving to CT, she has been enjoying nature hikes and exploring historical sites to get to know more about the state. A certified exercise physiologist (C-EP) through ACSM, Rachel has gained additional knowledge through NASM and NSCA.
Chelsie

Chelsie is a NASM certified personal trainer, a life skills coach, and a behavioral interventionist with A Behavioral Approach. Her background is in dance, sports, somatic body work, calisthenics, plyometrics, strength endurance, powerlifting, flexibility, and mobility A severe shoulder injury in 2021 led Chelsie to a lifestyle change focusing on physical fitness, which then became her passion. After six months of intense training, she was able to complete the “Human Flag”, holding for a PR of 35 seconds. In May of 2022 she entered her first fitness competition with HERS Muscle & Fitness magazine, placing #9 out of 27 finalists and remaining in the top ten finale. A busy mom, in her spare time Chelie enjoys endurance hikes, acrylic painting, crafting, binge watching shows, attending festivals, and spending time with friends. She appreciates the challenges in life that offer a wealth of knowledge for self-growth, better habits, consistency, and most importantly, accountability.

Combining an extensive background in dance with being a client in the fitness industry for many years, Lauren has a serious passion for the mind and body connection. Lauren uses the tools she has acquired through her National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certification to help her clients reach their goals and live to their fullest potential in and outside of the gym. Lauren believes in having fun and working hard so you can play harder.
