Easy Sloppy Joes

Makes about 9 servings

Ingredients

For the meat:

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup white onion, diced (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper

For the sauce:

  • 3/4 cup reduced sugar ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 4 tsp chili powder
  • 1-2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, optional diced onion, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat until the beef is browned.
  2. While the meat is cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing together the reduced sugar ketchup, mustard, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, chili powder, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
  3. Once the meat is browned, reduce the heat to low. Stir in the prepared sauce until the meat is evenly coated. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After simmering, remove the skillet from the heat.
  5. Serve the meat mixture on slider buns with your favorite sides.
